If you are looking for the best staycation deal for a group of friends, AL Qalaa Lodge is one to visit. The pros: Remarkable host by the name of Waleid who also happens to be the owner, huge rustic traditional Emirati villa with a plunge pool at the top of the fort, a large rooftop majlis and barbecue area, wadi hiking trails close by, super clean and very safe. The cons: No shops or convenience store close by.
Where Is This Place?
It’s in Fujairah, about 1 hour 30 min drive from Dubai and a world away from the traffic and skyscrapers you’ll find AL Qalaa Lodge located in the middle of the Hajar mountain range in the small village of Al Taibah. AL Qalaa Lodge is surrounded by mountains, nature, farms and fresh air.
What Are The Facilities and Services Available?
AL Qalaa Lodge offers a clean and authentic Emirati experience of the Eastern Region’s traditions and hospitality. The lodge has three different private outdoor lounges, two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a big living room (Majlis style), a separate fully equipped kitchen and a plunge pool and small farm art the top of the fort. Amazing mountain range views from the rooftop terrace the sun sets it’s the perfect spot for an evening bbq and chilled out game-night with family or friends. We visited mid-September and it was nice and cool with a fresh breeze.

What’s The Villa Like Inside?
The villa feels very intimate yet welcoming. It is decorated with Arabic lanterns, ceramic pots, Persian rugs, local fabrics, carved wood bed frames and such simple details that make the experience look and feel so Authentic. The courtyard areas has a swinging chair and a staircase leading up to a large rooftop terrace with unobstructed views of the Hajar mountains and nearby farms.
What Are The Rooms Like?
The villa can accommodate up to 6 people comfortably as there are two bedrooms. One the bedroom has a double bed and a cute baby cot while the second bedroom has four single beds. Inside the bedrooms, you’ll find clean individually warped fresh linen laid on the bed, Arabian antiques, and an old retro TV that’s an absolute must complete the look the rustic look and feel
How About Food and Drinks?
Not your usual all-inclusive getaway and that’s the best part! This is a self-catering villa with a fully equipped kitchen and outdoor BBQ area on the rooftop. I highly recommend stopping at the Carrefour in Dragon Mart 2 before leaving Dubai. There you can get all your supplies and hit the road. We forgot to get ice but the fantastic host Waleid was so kind to drive over bring us ice in the evening.
How Much Does It Cost?
The total cost of renting the entire lodge for 24 hours was AED 1,890. While you can’t put a price on the authentic experience, it’s really good value for money if you are a group of friends. Just remember that the rate does not include meals.
Is It Family-Friendly?
Entirely family-friendly and ideal for a family getaway, make sure to stock up on supplies for your kids before leaving Dubai as there are no grocery shops nearby.
